| Volunteers in Medicine (VIM) patients are without private or government funded medical insurance and who otherwise have no access to healthcare. Persons who live or work in Cape May County and their dependents are eligible for free care at VIM if their household income is equal to or below Charity Care levels established by the state of NJ. VIM patients do not fit any one general demographic profile. Some are single mothers working minimum wage jobs or seasonal laborers who are between jobs. They are our fishermen, our construction workers, and our waiters and waitresses. They are our neighbors and our friends. In addition to Family Medicine, VIM offers Pediatrics, Eye, Gastroenterology, Orthopedics, Podiatry, Chiropractic, Acupuncture, Massage Therapy, as well as Health Education, Diabetes Wellness, Lipids and Hypertension Clinics. Since its beginning in 2002, VIM has cared for over 3,500 patients with more than 18,000 patient visits. VIM accepts patients that meet the following criteria:Live or work in Cape May CountyNo access to health insuranceMeet NJ Charity Care Guidelines
